European Union
Regulation (EU) 2023/915
Groundnuts for direct consumption: aflatoxin B1 2 µg/kg and total aflatoxins 4 µg/kg. Higher limits apply to nuts that will be sorted or processed before use.
Mycotoxin & aflatoxin testing
We test groundnuts, spices, grains, nuts and feed for aflatoxins B1, B2, G1 and G2, ochratoxin A and other mycotoxins, and report against EU, FSSAI and buyer limits so your lot is cleared before it ships.
Mycotoxin testing lab
Mycotoxin testing is the laboratory measurement of toxic compounds produced by moulds, such as aflatoxins and ochratoxin A, in food and feed, to check that they are below the legal limits set for consumer safety.
Accurate Universal Laboratories Pvt. Ltd. tests groundnuts and peanut products, spices, chillies, rice, maize, cereals, dry fruits, oilseeds and animal feed for aflatoxins and other mycotoxins. Aflatoxin testing of groundnuts and peanut products is part of our NABL accredited scope.
With our Rajkot branch in the Saurashtra groundnut belt, exporters and processors can get aflatoxin certificates close to where the crop is traded and processed.

Importance of mycotoxin analysis
Mycotoxins form when moulds grow on crops in the field or in storage. They survive cooking and roasting, and aflatoxin is one of the most frequent reasons Indian groundnut and spice shipments are rejected.

Testing parameters
Aflatoxins are the main concern for groundnuts and spices; other mycotoxins matter for cereals, coffee, dried fruit and feed.
| Test | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
| Aflatoxin B1 | Most toxic aflatoxin; strict limits in groundnuts, spices, cereals and nuts |
| Aflatoxin B2 | Reported individually and included in total aflatoxins |
| Aflatoxin G1 | Reported individually and included in total aflatoxins |
| Aflatoxin G2 | Reported individually and included in total aflatoxins |
| Total Aflatoxins | Sum of B1, B2, G1 and G2; most limits set both B1 and total |
| Ochratoxin Analysis | Spices, coffee, cereals, dried fruit and wine |
| Fumonisin Testing | Maize and maize products |
| Zearalenone Testing | Maize, wheat and animal feed |
| Deoxynivalenol (DON) | Wheat, barley, maize and cereal products |
| T-2 Toxin | Cereals and feed |
Mycotoxins are unevenly spread in a lot, so a representative sample matters as much as the test. Ask us about sampling.

Aflatoxin limits
Limits depend on the product and how it will be used. These are the main references we report against.
Regulation (EU) 2023/915

Contaminants, Toxins and Residues Regulations, 2011
Limits for aflatoxins and other mycotoxins on foods sold in India, used for FSSAI compliance and product testing.
General Standard for Contaminants
International limits used by many importing countries, including for groundnuts and tree nuts.
Contract limits
Many buyers set their own limits below the legal maximum. Send us your contract limit and we'll report against it.
Importing-country rules
Markets such as Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia apply their own limits and documentation for groundnuts. We confirm the current requirement for your shipment.
How it works
Tell us the product, purpose and market. We recommend the right tests and send a quotation.
Courier a sealed sample to our Ahmedabad or Rajkot laboratory, or book a sample pickup.
Samples are ground and homogenised, then analysed for each mycotoxin with quality-control checks.
Individual and total aflatoxin values, compared with your market's or buyer's limits.
Our team explains the results and advises on next steps if a value is out of limit.
Industries we serve
Mycotoxin testing is essential wherever crops are stored, traded or exported.

FAQs
Aflatoxins are toxins produced by Aspergillus moulds on crops such as groundnuts, maize, chillies, spices and nuts. Aflatoxin B1 is the most toxic and is regulated in food and feed worldwide.
Mycotoxins are toxic compounds produced by moulds. The main ones in food and feed are aflatoxins, ochratoxin A, fumonisins, zearalenone, deoxynivalenol (DON) and T-2 toxin. Aflatoxin is one type of mycotoxin.
Under Regulation (EU) 2023/915, groundnuts for direct human consumption are limited to 2 µg/kg aflatoxin B1 and 4 µg/kg total aflatoxins, with higher limits for nuts that will be sorted or processed. We confirm the limit for your exact product before testing.
No. Aflatoxins are heat-stable, so roasting and cooking reduce them only partly. That is why raw material and finished lots both need testing.
Yes. Aflatoxins B1, B2, G1 and G2 are tested together, and other mycotoxins such as ochratoxin A can be added to the same sample. Tell us the list your buyer needs.
Aflatoxin is concentrated in a few kernels rather than spread evenly, so a small or unrepresentative sample can give a misleading result. Official sampling plans take many increments from the lot. Our team can help with sampling.
The cost depends on whether you need aflatoxins only or a wider mycotoxin panel, and on the product. Share your requirement and we will send an itemised quotation.
Yes. Our Ahmedabad laboratory is accredited by NABL to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 (certificate TC-5021) and our Rajkot laboratory under certificate TC-7988. The tests and products covered are listed in our scope of accreditation, and we confirm whether your parameters are within scope before testing.
