EU contaminant limits
Groundnuts for direct consumption: aflatoxin B1 2 µg/kg and total aflatoxins 4 µg/kg. Groundnuts to be sorted or processed: B1 8 µg/kg and total 15 µg/kg.
Groundnut & peanut testing
We test groundnut kernels, peanut butter, peanut oil and groundnut meal for aflatoxin, moisture, residues and microbiology, from labs in Rajkot and Ahmedabad close to Gujarat's groundnut trade.
Peanut testing lab
Groundnut testing is the laboratory analysis of groundnut kernels and peanut products for aflatoxin, moisture, foreign matter, pesticide residues and microbiology, to show a lot meets export, buyer and FSSAI requirements.
Aflatoxin is the main reason Indian groundnut shipments are rejected, so it is the centre of every groundnut test plan. Aflatoxin testing of groundnuts and peanut products is part of our NABL accredited scope.
Our Rajkot laboratory sits in the Saurashtra groundnut belt, serving shellers, processors and exporters across Rajkot, Gondal, Junagadh and Jamnagar, with our Ahmedabad laboratory supporting the wider export trade.

Why groundnut testing matters
Aflatoxin develops when groundnuts are harvested, dried or stored in damp conditions. It survives roasting, and limits for groundnuts going to the EU are among the strictest in the world.

Testing parameters
These are the tests most often requested by groundnut buyers, importing countries and FSSAI.
| Test | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
| Aflatoxins B1, B2, G1, G2 and total | Main export requirement; strict EU limits |
| Moisture | High moisture encourages mould and aflatoxin |
| Foreign matter and damaged kernels | Buyer quality specification |
| Pesticide residues | Residue limits in the EU and other markets |
| Salmonella | Pathogen check for peanut products and some buyers |
| Oil content | Value of groundnuts for crushing |
| Free fatty acids and peroxide value | Freshness and rancidity of kernels and oil |
| Peanut butter quality | Aflatoxin, micro and composition for finished products |

Aflatoxin limits
Aflatoxin limits for groundnuts depend on the market and on whether nuts will be sorted before use.

Importing-country rules
Markets such as Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia apply their own aflatoxin limits and documentation. We confirm the current rule for your shipment.
Contract limits
Many buyers set limits below the legal maximum. Send your contract and we'll report against it.
How it works
Tell us the product, purpose and market. We recommend the right tests and send a quotation.
Courier a sealed sample to our laboratory, or book a sample pickup.
Samples are ground and homogenised, then tested for aflatoxins and other parameters with quality controls.
Results compared with the EU, Asian, FSSAI or buyer limit you choose.
Our team explains the results and advises on next steps if a value is out of limit.
Industries we serve
We work with every part of Gujarat's groundnut chain, from shelling units to exporters.

FAQs
Most buyers and importing countries need aflatoxin B1 and total aflatoxins, moisture and foreign matter, and often pesticide residues and Salmonella. The exact list depends on the destination and contract.
Under EU rules, groundnuts for direct human consumption are limited to 2 µg/kg aflatoxin B1 and 4 µg/kg total aflatoxins. Groundnuts that will be sorted or physically treated before use have limits of 8 µg/kg B1 and 15 µg/kg total.
Yes. Our Rajkot branch laboratory serves groundnut businesses across Saurashtra, and our Ahmedabad laboratory supports the wider trade. Contact us to arrange sample drop-off or pickup.
Aflatoxin is concentrated in a small number of kernels, so a small or unrepresentative sample can give a misleading result. Taking many increments from the lot and grinding the whole sample is essential.
The lot cannot be shipped to markets with stricter limits. Options include sorting to remove contaminated kernels and re-testing, or selling to a market or use with a higher limit.
The cost depends on the tests required. Share your product, destination and buyer specification and we will send an itemised quotation.
Yes. Our Ahmedabad laboratory is accredited by NABL to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 (certificate TC-5021) and our Rajkot laboratory under certificate TC-7988. The tests and products covered are listed in our scope of accreditation, and we confirm whether your parameters are within scope before testing.
