Feed testing lab

What is animal feed testing?

Animal feed testing is the laboratory analysis of compounded feeds and feed ingredients for nutrients, mycotoxins such as aflatoxin B1, heavy metals and quality, to make sure feed is nutritious and safe for animals.

Feed quality affects animal health and productivity, and contaminated feed can pass into food. Aflatoxin B1 in cattle feed, for example, appears in milk as aflatoxin M1.

Accurate Universal Laboratories Pvt. Ltd. tests cattle, poultry and fish feed and ingredients such as oil cakes, meals and grains, and tests compounded cattle feed against IS 2052.

Why feed testing matters

Healthy animals and safe food

Feed that is low in nutrients reduces productivity, and contaminated feed can harm animals and enter the food chain. Testing protects both.

FAQs

Animal Feed Testing: common questions

Why is animal feed testing essential?

It checks that feed provides the nutrients animals need and is free from harmful levels of aflatoxin, heavy metals and other contaminants that affect animal health and can pass into milk and meat.

What tests does cattle feed need?

Crude protein, fat, fibre, moisture, ash, acid-insoluble ash, aflatoxin B1 and the parameters in IS 2052 for compounded cattle feed.

Why is aflatoxin tested in cattle feed?

Aflatoxin B1 in feed is converted by cows into aflatoxin M1, which appears in milk. Controlling aflatoxin in feed protects milk safety.

How much does feed testing cost?

The cost depends on the feed and parameters. Share your requirement and we will send an itemised quotation.

Is Accurate Universal Laboratories accredited for this testing?

Yes. Our Ahmedabad laboratory is accredited by NABL to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 (certificate TC-5021) and our Rajkot laboratory under certificate TC-7988. The tests and products covered are listed in our scope of accreditation, and we confirm whether your parameters are within scope before testing.
