Wastewater testing

Wastewater testing for STP and ETP monitoring

We test sewage and industrial effluent at the inlet and outlet of treatment plants for BOD, COD, solids, oil and grease, nutrients and metals, to help you run your plant and meet discharge norms.

Effluent testing

What is wastewater testing?

Wastewater testing is the laboratory analysis of sewage or industrial effluent for parameters such as BOD, COD, suspended solids, oil and grease and nutrients, to monitor treatment performance and check compliance with discharge standards.

Industries and large buildings with sewage or effluent treatment plants must keep treated water within the limits set in their consent to operate. Regular testing shows whether the plant is working and the discharge complies.

Accurate Universal Laboratories Pvt. Ltd. tests STP and ETP samples for industries, housing societies, hotels and hospitals. Contact us to confirm the parameters required in your consent conditions.

Why wastewater testing matters

Run your plant well and stay compliant

A treatment plant only works if it is monitored. Testing shows treatment efficiency, helps you fix problems early and gives you records for inspections.

Analyst performing a titration for wastewater analysis

Treatment efficiency

Compare inlet and outlet results.

Discharge compliance

Check against your consent limits.

Early warning

Spot plant problems before they become violations.

Reuse checks

Treated water for gardening and flushing.

Records

Reports for inspections and audits.

How it works

From effluent sample to report in five steps

  1. Step 1

    Share your requirement

Tell us the product, purpose and market. We recommend the right tests and send a quotation.

  2. Step 2

Send the sample or book pickup

Courier a sealed sample to our Ahmedabad or Rajkot laboratory, or book a sample pickup.

  3. Step 3

    Laboratory analysis

Samples are analysed with standard methods for each parameter.

  4. Step 4

    Accredited report

Results compared with your consent limits or the applicable standard.

  5. Step 5

    Technical support

Our team explains the results and advises on next steps if a value is out of limit.

FAQs

Wastewater Testing: common questions

What is BOD and COD?

BOD measures the oxygen needed by bacteria to break down organic matter in water, and COD measures the oxygen needed to oxidise all organic and chemical matter. Both show how polluted wastewater is.

Which parameters are tested in STP outlet water?

Common parameters are pH, BOD, COD, TSS, oil and grease, ammonia and other nutrients, and sometimes faecal coliforms. The exact list is set by your consent conditions.

How often should wastewater be tested?

The frequency is usually set in your consent to operate. Many plants also test more often to monitor performance.

How much does wastewater testing cost?

The cost depends on the parameters required. Share your consent conditions and we will send an itemised quotation.

Is Accurate Universal Laboratories accredited for this testing?

Yes. Our Ahmedabad laboratory is accredited by NABL to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 (certificate TC-5021) and our Rajkot laboratory under certificate TC-7988. The tests and products covered are listed in our scope of accreditation, and we confirm whether your parameters are within scope before testing.
