What is water testing?

Water testing is the laboratory analysis of a water sample for physical, chemical and microbiological parameters, compared with the standard for its use, such as IS 10500 for drinking water, to show it is safe and suitable.

Accurate Universal Laboratories Pvt. Ltd. tests water from municipal supplies, borewells, tankers, RO plants, bottling plants and industrial processes at our Ahmedabad and Rajkot laboratories.

Food businesses use our IS 10500 reports for FSSAI licensing, bottling plants use our IS 14543 and IS 13428 testing for BIS certification, and homes, societies and industries use our reports to check that their water is safe.

Why water testing matters

Safe water for people, food and processes

Water can look clear and still carry bacteria, fluoride, nitrate or metals. Testing is the only way to know your water is safe for drinking, food production and industrial use.

Microbiologist checking water samples for bacteria

Safe drinking water

Check against IS 10500 limits.

FSSAI licensing

IS 10500 reports for food businesses.

BIS certification

Packaged water to IS 14543 and IS 13428.

Borewell checks

Fluoride, nitrate, TDS and hardness.

Wastewater compliance

STP and ETP outlet testing.

Microbiology

Coliforms and E. coli.

Testing parameters

Common water tests

The parameters depend on the water's source and use. These are the most commonly tested groups.

How it works

From water sample to report in five steps

  1. Step 1

    Share source and purpose

Tell us where the water comes from and why you're testing.

  2. Step 2

    Collect the sample

Use clean bottles for chemistry and a sterile bottle for microbiology, or book pickup.

  3. Step 3

    Laboratory analysis

Physical, chemical and microbiological tests with standard methods.

  4. Step 4

    Report

Results compared with the standard for your use.

  5. Step 5

    Support

We explain any failed results and treatment options.

FAQs

Water Testing: common questions

How much does water testing cost?

The cost depends on the water type and the number of parameters. A short drinking water panel costs less than a full IS 10500 analysis. Share your requirement and we will send an itemised quotation.

Are water tests mandatory by law?

They are required in many cases: food businesses need an IS 10500 report for FSSAI licensing, packaged water must meet IS 14543 or IS 13428 for BIS certification, and industries must monitor wastewater under their consent conditions. Testing is recommended for homes using borewell or tanker water.

Can I test water at home with a kit?

Kits and TDS meters give an indication of a few parameters, but they cannot detect most metals, pesticides or bacteria reliably. A laboratory test is needed for an accurate result and an official report.

What if my water test fails?

We explain which parameter failed and what it means, and the usual treatment options, such as RO for high TDS or disinfection for bacteria. Retesting after treatment confirms the fix.

How do I collect a water sample?

Use clean bottles for chemical tests and a sterile bottle for microbiology, let the tap run first, avoid touching the inside of the cap, and bring the sample to the lab quickly and cool. We can also arrange pickup.

Is Accurate Universal Laboratories accredited for this testing?

Yes. Our Ahmedabad laboratory is accredited by NABL to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 (certificate TC-5021) and our Rajkot laboratory under certificate TC-7988. The tests and products covered are listed in our scope of accreditation, and we confirm whether your parameters are within scope before testing.
